I am Valerie Wittenberg, founder of Ethos Anima, a place and a moment in time to strengthen the bond between animals and their owners.
Why Ethos Anima?
Ethos Anima was created to honor the essence of animals and the relationships that shape our lives.
Ethos represents values, integrity, and the principles that guide.
Anima means soul — the living spark within every being.
Together, they reflect my belief that animal communication is an act of love by creating a safe space for animals to express themselves freely in life and beyond.
My mission
listen to animals, transmit their messages to their owner and support both using energy techniques or practical advice based on naturopathic and Bach Flower principles.
bring clarity, comfort and grounded practical guidance for animals and human for a stronger bond between owners and animals.
My Journey
Animals have been my companions, teachers, and guides for as long as I can remember. But there were two moments in my life that quietly changed everything — moments that revealed a deeper way of listening, one that goes beyond words, beyond time and is something more intimate; soul-to-soul.
The first was saying goodbye to my childhood dog, Quincy. It was a heartbreaking moment, but in the stillness, I heard him — a clear, gentle 'goodbye you were a great friend ' that didn’t come from sound, but from somewhere deeper. I didn’t fully understand it then, but it stayed with me, like a small light waiting for its purpose.
Years later, my last dog, Bisbee, developed chronic kidney failure at 14. As I cared for him for the next 2 years, he began to communicate with me in different ways as if he wanted me to realise my full potential. I continued to sense his needs however my body began to echo his pains and one day as I kept trying to give him his medications, I heard a very loud 'NO Mom I'm done with the meds they make me sick' after which I was hit with strong nausea.
At this point with the support of the veterinarian we respected his wishes and helped him manage his end of life as best and naturally as possible. He passed at the age of 16 and even in this difficult time he still had something to teach me. As I felt him cross over he showed me I could accompany an animal to the other side. His trust in me and my abilities became my guide and his journey a turning point. Through him, I understood that animals speak on many levels, and we can bridge those worlds with compassion, presence, and respect.
Experiences with my dogs convinced me to work with animals. As an empath fascinated by human emotions I wanted to learn about canine emotions and what drives their behaviours. I became a canine behaviourist and yet a question remained on my mind: Before proceeding with surgery, medications or certain techniques, what does the animal have to say about his behaviour? Any past traumas or experiences?
So I searched for communication techniques and found multidimensional animal communication at ECAMT (Ecole de Communication Animale Multidimensionnelle) in Toulouse France. This 9-month program changed my life. It enabled be to further develop my skills and understand the tight bonds we weave with our animals. Through this journey in personal development I learned that animals do not chose us by accident - they have something to teach us more often than none about ourselves whether they are still with us or not. With multidimensional animal communication I found my purpose: to provide pet owners precious messages from their animals. Their messages can range from expressing their day-to-day needs to treating a wound of their soul that is in connection to their owner and their own life. My background as naturopathic doctor, Bach Flower therapist, Reiki master and canine behaviorist I support animals and their owners with concrete actions and next steps.
It is an honor for me to accompany owners and their animals on this journey, with compassion, respect, and the deep belief that every being has a story worth hearing.
